SWSP7123: COMMUNITY PLANNING, ENGAGEMENT AND GOVERNANCE

WELCOME TO GEORGE's BLOG !! [ghughie.blogspot.com]

Welcome Friends!! Read my blog postings below and add your comments where appropriate!

This blog site generally relates to the stated topic above and as it is part of major environmental health and waste management issues, it would be appreciated if related constructive comments, contributions, reviews and advice are given.

My project plan

  • 1. ESTABLISH NETWORKS and GATHER INFORMATION relating to RECYCLING

  • 2. Start campaigns and PUBLIC AWARENESS through local media and networks targetting all communities within each suburb on the importance of waste management and control, and general cleanliness and environmental health around the City of Port Moresby.

  • 3. Simultaneously, commence CONSULTATION with the city authority - the National Capital District Commission (NCDC)- and its garbage/waste collection contractors, and existing and potential recycling companies.

  • 4. Prepare strategies and plans. PLAN THE WORK.

  • 5. From the outcomes of this awareness program, initiate a PILOT PROJECT proposed for a particular community that is interested to take the challenge, in the order of priority, the eagerness and willingness of participation, and the extent of area to be covered.
  • - Establish a NETWORK involving environmentally-conscious people within the community, and link up with existing groups within the community like women's groups, youth, sporting groups, schools, and church organizations.
  • - Simultaneously, LINKS need to be established with the responsible authority, the NCDC, and its garbage/waste collection contractors, and the community.

  • 6. Seek out POTENTIAL SPONSORS and rally public support.

  • 7. WORK THE PLAN

  • 8. RECYCLE
